Beatrix Bernauer

Executive summary

As chief risk and compliance officer, Bernauer oversees the firm’s enterprise risk management and compliance programs, including data privacy. Bernauer is responsible for coordinating efforts to identify, monitor, and mitigate key risks facing the firm, serves as a key adviser on matters related to enterprise risks and controls, and manages ethical and regulatory compliance issues in coordination with other firm leaders.

Bernauer also serves as deputy general counsel. As counsel for the firm, Bernauer has been responsible for legal matters related to risk management, litigation management, regulatory and ethical compliance and complex transactions. She defends the firm and its personnel in litigation including class action securities litigation and professional malpractice litigation. Bernauer also counsels management on firm governance issues, partnership agreement issues and partner matters.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Bernauer worked in the legal departments of Arthur Andersen and Andersen Worldwide.
