Melissa Dimitri

Executive summary

Melissa Dimitri is a managing director in Grant Thornton's Strategy practice in Chicago, Illinois. She has seventeen years of experience providing corporate strategy and performance improvement advisory services to a variety of different constituencies including the c-suite, executive boards, transformation offices, private equity holders, and management teams.  Melissa’s advisory experience includes corporate strategy, business transformation, customer experience strategy, strategic visioning, program management, and performance improvement and restructuring.  She has worked in a number of different industries throughout her career, including financial services, healthcare, commercial real estate, not-for-profits, manufacturing and retail, among many others.  

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Melissa founded Badon Hill LLC, a residential construction project management and real estate development firm. She was also a Vice President in the advisory practice of Mesirow Financial Consulting and has worked in the corporate restructuring practices at KPMG and Arthur Andersen.

Representative Experience
  • Advised the c-suite for a $4B Fortune 500 financial services company on business portfolio optimization, recommending changes to various portfolio of businesses to improve profitability and scale.  Identified $25M in immediate cash generation opportunities and $12M in year one cost savings
  • Developed a business blueprint for a Fortune 100 insurance company to re-orient an IT transformation initiative in the customer experience.  Led the engagement team which performed customer journey mapping, identified critical “Moment of Truth” customer experiences, and defined the business capabilities necessary to deliver the target experience
  • Led a year-long Board of Directors series for a 150 year-old life insurance company to introduce various customer centricity concepts.  Facilitated interactive visioning sessions which included workshops, breakout sessions, and discussions of key industry trends and competitive landscape
  • Advised a $1B health system on performance improvement opportunities associated with its acquisition of a small regional health system.  Specifically addressed issues relating to financial processes and controls and leveraging technology to increase transparency and automation.  Also advised on organizational structure and process flow changes to increase operational efficiencies
