Ben Harder

Executive summary

Ben is an IT Principal in the Audit practice with over 16 years of experience leading teams who specialize in helping public and private sector clients address IT audit security concerns, information assurance, internal control, as well as the remediation of issues contributing to non-compliance. Ben serves as the IT Assurance Practice Leader for the West and Atlantic Coast Regions. He has extensive experience in assessing the IT risks associated with financial statement audits. He is a national SAP subject matter specialist and a national IT Audit methodology resource.

Ben has extensive experience with systems and process assurance including specialization in IT General Computer Controls reviews with emphasis on Sarbanes-Oxley 404 readiness/compliance. He has a deep knowledge of security organizational concepts, program and policy development, and security frameworks and standards (COBIT, COSO, FISCAM, NIST, etc…). His entire career has been in the public accounting IT space, spending a decade with a Big 4 firm prior to joining Grant Thornton. He has served a large number of public audit clients and as a result, has successfully navigated multiple PCAOB, internal Audit Practice Reviews, and Peer inspections of the quality of his work. Throughout his career he has been exposed to numerous technologies and ERPs including, but not limited to, SAP, Oracle, Costpoint, Microsoft Dynamics, Deltek T&E, AS/400 and PeopleSoft.

He specializes in coordinating multiple, simultaneous projects with teams spread across geographical locations, resulting in strong project management skills, helping clients to achieve their primary objectives.
