John Harmeling

Executive summary

John Harmeling is Grant Thornton’s chief marketing officer. Based in Charlotte, Harmeling is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s brand management, integrated and content marketing, digital marketing and sales enablement, advertising, media, and sponsorships. With almost 20 years of marketing leadership and experience, he and his team are integral to driving a distinctive and disruptive brand presence for the firm in the marketplace.

Harmeling is an accomplished marketing executive and brings to Grant Thornton a strong track record of success in brand management, digital marketing and big data. His most recent brand experience was with Aflac, where he led award-winning business-to-business marketing, media, creative services, sponsorships, field marketing and marketing strategy teams. Harmeling also was a member of Aflac’s U.S. Executive Committee. Previously, he held senior marketing positions with Bank of America Corp., Experian and AIG Inc. in the United States, Asia and Europe.
