Tracy Hennesy

Tracy is a Partner in Grant Thornton’s Mergers & Acquisitions Tax Services practice, a dedicated team of experienced tax professionals who focus exclusively on transaction-related tax matters. Tracy has the capabilities to provide valuable transaction advice at all points along a transaction's timeline.

Tracy has more than eleven years of experience with Grant Thornton in mergers & acquisitions tax consulting; specifically buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence, IRC Section 382 analyses, transaction cost analyses, E&P and stock basis studies, and tax structure modeling for clients that are contemplating potential sales/purchases, including cross-border transactions. In addition, Tracy has experience helping clients manage and address various post-transaction tax considerations, including making the proper tax elections and tax return filings, considering post transaction legal entity planning and justification, remediating tax exposures identified in the due diligence process, and identifying and implementing cash tax savings opportunities.

Tracy has served a wide variety of industries and clients, specifically those in the private equity, energy, and manufacturing and distribution industries.

Community involvement

Tracy serves on the Board of Directors of Heroes for Children, a Texas-based charitable organization, whose mission is to provide financial and social assitance to families with children battling cancer.

Bachelor’s of Business Administration degrees in Accounting and Finance from Loyola University Chicago (graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude)
