Catherine Hyodo

Executive summary

Cathy has more than 20 years of public accounting experience as an auditor and leads Grant Thornton’s Los Angeles Technology Industry Practice (TIP) and also serves as a member of the firm’s national TIP leadership team and co-leader of the firm’s national new media/digital media sub-segment.  Cathy’s experience has primarily focused on serving technology clients, including new media/digital media, telecommunications, hardware, software, technology services, internet, e-commerce, B to B e-commerce and licensing companies.  She has extensive experience working with U.S.-based companies overseas. Cathy has experience working with companies that are emerging to public filers, including accelerated and non-accelerated filers.  She has specialized knowledge of complex accounting transactions such as revenue recognition, complex debt and equity transactions, purchase accounting and accounting for variable interest entities.

Cathy also has experience working with the firm’s Business Advisory Services practice as the lead partner on several Sarbanes-Oxley compliance engagements and specialty operation projects.  She has further represented client management by corresponding directly with their external auditors regarding Sarbanes-Oxley compliance support of testing methodology, critical cycles, materiality, testing results, remediation and assessment of deficiencies.
