Sharon Kay

Executive summary

Sharon Kay is a subject matter specialist in Grant Thornton LLP’s Washington National Tax Office with 20 years of tax experience. Previously, Kay was a taxation specialist in the Office of Tax Legislative Counsel in the United States Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C. Although she focused on accounting methods, inventories and certain business tax credits, Kay worked on a wide variety of federal income tax issues while at the Department of the Treasury. During her almost six years with the Treasury, she was involved in over 100 published guidance projects, including, for example, regulations regarding repairs v. capital improvements; guidance on the deferral of advance payments; regulations on the research and experimentation tax credit; and regulations regarding corporate estimated tax payments. Additionally, Kay has many years of Big Four experience at Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers, working with both public and private clients in a variety of industries. At Ernst & Young, Kay was a partner of federal tax services in the national tax office.
