Chris Oatis

Executive summary

Chris serves as the Florida Income/Franchise Tax Compliance Practice Leader, and is the Business Record Repository Steward for the Income/Franchise Tax Business Line. He also facilitates the Manager Leadership Academy program for the Florida Market Territory.

Chris has over thirteen years of experience in public accounting, with over eleven years of State and Local Tax focus. He joined Grant Thornton in November 2005.

Chris has experience in numerous State and Local Tax service areas, including: legal entity optimization, business expansion consulting, refund opportunity reviews, apportionment studies, nexus analyses, state audit and controversy assistance, and ASC 740 preparation and documentation.

Chris serves both privately-held and publicly-traded clients in various industries, including: restaurant, hospitality, construction, technology, manufacturing, retail, and other industries.

Community involvement

Chris is a member of the Florida Board of Pilot Commissioners, on which he serves as the Pilotage Rate Review Committee Vice Chair.

Chris has spoken at a variety of conferences, including the Tax Leadership Conference and Vertex Exchange Conference. He has also presented on webcasts, such as the “ASC 740 Quarterly Update” and “SALT Midyear Update”.
