Jason Sandberg

Executive summary

Jason Sandberg is the Financial Services and Real Estate Industry Leader for Grant Thornton’s Atlantic Coast Market Territory. He also serves as the National SPAC Audit Leader.

Jason has served as the Audit Partner for Mortgage and Equity REITs, Asset Managers, Regulated Banks, Specialty Lenders, and other Investment Vehicles. He has helped a number of companies to successfully execute on their initial registration and IPO process. He has also worked with multiple SPAC sponsor groups, as well as SPAC targets, on their IPO and merger process.

Previously, Jason spent five years in the firm’s National Professional Practice Director Group, specializing in complex accounting and auditing matters for Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issuer clients and large, complex private companies in the Financial Services and Real Estate industries across the firm.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Jason was an auditor with a global accounting firm.

Professional qualifications and memberships

Jason has taught continuing education classes on accounting for and auditing of financial instruments, allowance for losses on leases and loans and variable interest entities, and is active in training at Grant Thornton on a local and national basis.

Jason has spoken at the University of Delaware on various topics including accounting, auditing and professional development. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He also sits on the Finance Committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association, as well as the AICPA Task Force on CECL implementation.

Education

Jason is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting. He also has an MBA from Temple University, with a concentration in International Business.
