Thacher Smith

Executive summary

Thacher Smith’s experience includes over 22 years in public accounting and eight years serving as the chief tax officer for two Fortune 1000 companies. Smith has a wide range of experience in federal, state and international tax matters, including M&A. He is focused on ASC 740 matters, reviewing tax provisions for our audit clients and preparing tax provisions for non-audit clients. He created Grant Thornton’s FIN 48 audit program and helped develop standardized procedures for the firm’s preparation and review of income tax provisions. Smith also is a member of the Technical Issue Resolution Team for our Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Services practice.
